Kony Renews Commitment to Open Standards and Web Technologies with Version 5.0 of KonyOne Platform

Complete Support for JavaScript and Desktop Web Speeds Enterprise App Development to Any Endpoint, Through Any Deployment Mode

ORLANDO – Kony Solutions, Inc., the leading mobile and multichannel application development platform provider, has expanded support for open standards with the latest version of its flagship KonyOne™ Platform. Version 5.0 of the KonyOne Platform features complete JavaScript-based development support for both native and mobile web deployment modes, expanded integration options for third-party JavaScript libraries, and deployment to desktop Web channels – all from a single integrated platform and code base.

Today’s announcement of JavaScript support means that Kony’s platform and IDE can be utilized by any JavaScript developer with little or no training. Developers accustomed to utilizing features from popular library vendors such as Sencha and JQuery can leverage elements from these libraries simply and easily within the Kony environment. Additionally, adding desktop Web support expands Kony’s “Write Once, Run Everywhere”commitment beyond mobile channels and devices to traditional web pages on desktops or laptops.

“One platform, a million and one options – that’s been our  mission since the beginning, and with this announcement, we’re opening that capability to more JavaScript developers who want a way to build killer apps quickly and push them to any device, anywhere, over any network,” said Sriram Ramanathan, CTO of Kony Solutions. “Whether they need to develop native apps that truly behave uniquely for each device OS, or leverage HTML5 for mobile web apps that extend web presence broadly, developers can look to Kony for maximum flexibility and finely tuned capability. No other vendor comes close to offering an end-to-end solution that delivers this level of flexibility, functionality and rich user experience.”

In a June 2012 survey of global businesses by MGI Research, more than 85% of respondents said they view greater use of standards as very important or critical to their mobile strategy.

Commitment to Open Standards for Entire Software Development Lifecycle

Kony’s commitment to open standards extends across the entire software lifecycle, from development, to deployment and management:

·       Develop: In its award-winning, Eclipse plug-in IDE, Kony supports a combination of visual drag-and-drop tools and JavaScript to build mobile web/SPA and native apps across all operating systems including iOS, Android, Windows, BlackBerry, J2ME, Symbian and Web OS. In addition, the KonyOne Studio supports popular JavaScript and CSS libraries, including those from JQuery Mobile and Sencha Touch, with easy integration into the Kony development environment.

·       Deploy: IT managers utilize Kony’s J2EE-based middleware services at runtime, which can be deployed in a variety of application servers including WebSphere, WebLogic, JBOSS,Tomcat and more. Integration with backend systems also utilizes open standards including web services, XML, SOAP/REST, JDBC database services, and native connectors for Oracle Siebel and Peoplesoft, Microsoft SharePoint, and other enterprise backend systems.

·       Manage: Kony’s Mobile App Manager product enables IT administrators to manage any app from any source, whether developed in the Kony environment or in any custom or third-party development environment. Mobile apps can be wrapped and protected, and an enterprise container on the device abstracts enterprise apps from the device OS, with common features such as shared storage and single sign-on for enterprise apps. Security is provided using industry-standard 128 bit SSL/TLS protocols between the device and the KonyOne Server for all data communication.
